Should I Steam Treat My Hair?

Should I Steam Treat My Hair?

The question should not be ‘Should I Steam My Hair?’, the questions should always be, How do I steam my hair? When and how often should I steam my hair? and What products should I use for my steam treatment?

But let me tell you why you should steam your hair:

Imagine all the elements in the air that our hair is exposed to; typically leaving it parched and brittle. That makes you wonder why your hair is breaking, huh? A good hair care treatment (with the right products) is necessary to heal our hair and help to prevent those breakages. A steam treatment is extremely important and helpful in retaining moisture for the hair as well as bringing back moisture to dry hair. A moisture filled hair is a healthy and strong hair! The moist heat also encourages blood flow to circulate, promoting hair growth.

So how do you steam your hair?

Steaming your hair is an insanely simple process which we have made even simpler with our Home Care Steamer Cap.  Wash your hair with Natural Masters’ Stimulating Shampoo to cleanse the scalp and another wash with nourishing shampoo to moisturize and cleanse the strands. Apply Natural Masters’ Curl Quencher Intense Hydration Treatment evenly to the hair then sit under Steamer Cap for 15-20 minutes.

When and how often should you steam?

Depending on the health of the hair; a steam is recommended monthly, bi-weekly and even weekly (for more moisture-deprived/damaged hair).  If your hair is only slightly dry, then no more than 10-20 minutes under the steamer. If there is more damage and dryness, then 25-30 minutes will be needed.

The steam lifts the hair cuticle allowing treatments to penetrate deeply into the hair shaft helping to heal damaged hair.

So, what products should you use to treat your hair?

A deep conditioning treatment is great to help with this moisture retention and added protein is great for thermally stressed hair.
